Leadership coaching where it counts: at the company
At ivii, leadership coaching isn’t just an optional seminar for managers. Rather, it’s a vital part of our company culture because we know that real growth happens where teamwork succeeds: at the company itself, during the work day, in conversations – in the moment. That’s why we hired a coach for our company.
What motivates employees – and how we react
People often wait until they have a concrete problem before tackling topics such as workplace conflict coaching, how to hold difficult conversations and leadership coaching for managers. And studies show that good employees mostly leave companies not because of the pay, but because they do not feel seen, heard or supported.
The most common causes of job dissatisfaction
- Poor leadership skills – lack of recognition and trust
- No opportunities for development – stagnation instead of growth
- Poor communication – misunderstandings, insecurity, work overload
That’s where our coach at ivii comes in.
She supports our managers in taking responsibility and leading teams effectively – in real time, in context, at our company.
What leadership coaching for managers at ivii is like
Leadership skills are developed where people are listened to, understood and challenged to promote their growth on a professional level as well as on a personal one. At ivii, this is very close to our hearts – and in fact, part of our day-to-day work.
What makes it possible is one expert whose experience, presence and unmistakable people skills help her do amazing things: Barbara Ertl. She’s responsible for our organizational and managerial development – as a coach, sparring partner and initiator.
There are situations where you just want to have someone who’s got your back, and Barbara is that person. Her support has helped me keep cool and confident in multiple critical management situations.
Barbara created a format that has tangible effects on our everyday work.
It’s called “situational leadership skills” and is a training and coaching program that provides immediate help to managers in critical situations. Plus, it’s drawn from real life and easy to apply – exactly what managers need today.
Situational leadership means:
- Flexibly changing up your leadership style
- Keeping a clear head at critical moments
- Helping your employees develop into self-reliant problem solvers
It has clear advantages:
- Develop leadership when it’s needed – no more waiting until next quarter
- Personal development without outside training
- Support for management situations during everyday operation
- Making communication skills a key part of everyday work
Some decisions don’t need code. They need character.
Short interview with Roland Jernej, Head of Development at ivii
What do your development teams need when personalities clash or things reach a boiling point?
That’s when we need something totally different from code and technology. We need trust, clarity and the feeling that someone’s there watching and listening. That’s where Barbara comes in.
What exactly does support from Barbara look like?
Barbara can tell if there’s tension in the air or decision-making processes are stuck. She asks the right questions, creates structure and gives our managers the ideas that help them without telling them what to do.
There’s no technical development without people development! We can only be innovative over the long term if our teams communicate clearly and take responsibility. With her experience, Barbara creates trust and structure while giving us exactly the support our agile development teams need.
For everyone who wants to make coaching a part of their company
Barbara doesn’t accompany just us. She also brings her experience to the table at other companies – wherever there’s the desire and the opportunity for real change.
For anyone who’s wondering how coaching can be integrated into the day-to-day at work, we at ivii are happy to share our experiences. If you’re interested in discussing, don’t hesitate to drop us a line. You can also contact Barbara directly at barbara.ertl@ivii.eu
THE BOTTOM LINE
By integrating coaching into our company, we’ve developed a leadership culture that promotes team spirit and a love of innovation. That’s how we can create products like ivii iriis, which is now successfully in use at RIKA to ensure parts are assembled error-free every single day.
And we are proud that we have managers like Patrick Ruprecht who work together with Barbara to ensure that ivii remains a company that people are part of because they believe in it – and one that shapes the future together with our customers.
